Environmental Management

DMAT has been registered to ISO 14001 since 1998.   DMAT has implemented an ISO 14001 environmental management system in order to minimize the impact of operations on the environment.   The foundation of the DMAT environmental management system is the environmental policy.

DMAT Environmental Policy

It is the policy of Denso Manufacturing Athens Tennessee, Inc. to conduct its business in a manner that is consistent with environmental preservation and harmony with society.   To implement this policy, DMAT commits to the following principles:

  • DMAT will operate as an environmentally responsible corporate citizen;

  • DMAT will implement an environmental management system which includes objectives and targets, periodic review and commitment to continuous improvement, and;

Tennessee Pollution Prevention Partnership (TP3)

TP3 is a statewide network of households, schools, government agencies, organizations, businesses, and industries working together to prevent pollution.   In 2003, DMAT achieved the Performer Level, which is the highest achievement level in TP3.   DMAT achieved the performer level by maintaining good EPA compliance, ISO 14001 Certification, completing pollution prevention projects for air, water, waste and hazardous materials; and completing community environmental outreach projects.   More information on DMAT's involvement in TP3 is available on the Internet at the following address: http://www.state.tn.us/environment/dca/tp3/tp3Denso.php

Community Environmental Activities

DMAT is active in community environmental activities.   DMAT teamed with the McMinn County Vocational Center to reuse excess wooden crates for student projects.   One of the projects the students completed were blue bird boxes for the DMAT facility.   15 blue bird boxes were installed on the DMAT facility grounds and additional boxes were donated to local schools.   DMAT has also assisted the local utility board with water treatment education programs for elementary school students.
